RadioMoLI: An Archive for Irish Literature
RadioMoLI: An Archive for Irish Literature
MoLI’s mission is to create the world’s most significant literary museum, bringing visitors on an inspiring journey through Irish writing past and present while also encouraging them to explore their own creative potential.
From the beginning, this has been explored both in the physical presence of the museum and in its online presence and online engagement. The digital output of the museum has always been at the forefront of the museum’s activity – a museum within the museum.
The launch of the museum’s digital archive, RadioMoLI, in February 2019 predated the physical opening of the physical museum in September 2019, making our first visitors digital, as well as our first engagement.
With the support of the DOORS Digital Incubator for Museums project, MoLI has been able to bring RadioMoLI into a new era. The museum’s rapid switch to online programming in 2020 due to Covid 19 lockdowns, meant that there was more of a demand than ever for RadioMoLI and it quickly became apparent that it needed to be upgraded to meet this demand.
The new platform aims to bridge the gap between the physical and digital and provide an inclusive platform for new voices in the Irish writing community globally. RadioMoLI 2.0, will incorporate hundreds of audio, video, images and digital exhibitions, and will continue to expand into the future.
