Bringing two institutions together

Bringing two institutions together

A historic partnership between UCD and the National Library of Ireland, the Museum of Literature Ireland sets a precedent for large scale, collaborative public engagement projects in the cultural heritage sector.

Not only is the museum a trailblazing cultural capital project for UCD, it also allows both partners to expand beyond their traditional physical spaces. Through collaborative programming and promotion, MoLI will act as a catalyst through which to explore deeper links between UCD and the National Library in terms of collections, research, education and networks – all the while engaging the public with their exceptional collections and scholarship through a vibrant new visitor attraction.

The museum’s development has also been made possible through significant capital support from Fáilte Ireland, Ireland’s tourism development authority. You can find out more about our visionary partners below.

University College Dublin

Founded over one hundred and sixty years ago, UCD is one of Europe’s leading research-intensive universities; an environment where undergraduate education, masters and PhD training, research, innovation and community engagement form a dynamic spectrum of activity. UCD is also Ireland’s most globally engaged university with over 33,000 students drawn from over 120 countries, and includes 5,500 students based at locations outside Ireland.

UCD is the university of first choice among Irish undergraduate students. The university has the highest proportion of graduate students in Ireland, including over 1,500 PhDs. ucd.ie

National Library of Ireland

The National Library of Ireland is the library of record for Ireland,  established in 1877. It shares the story of Ireland with the world, through unique collections of more than ten million items, including books, manuscripts, newspapers, photographs, prints, maps, drawings, ephemera, music and digital media. Fáilte Ireland

Fáilte Ireland is the National Tourism Development Authority. Fáilte’s role is to support the tourism industry and work to sustain Ireland as a high-quality and competitive tourism destination. They provide a range of practical business supports to help tourism businesses better manage and market their products and services.

Fáilte also work with other state agencies and representative bodies, at local and national levels, to implement and champion positive and practical strategies that will benefit Irish tourism and the Irish economy.

They promote Ireland as a holiday destination through their domestic marketing campaign (DiscoverIreland.ie) and manage a network of nationwide tourist information centres that provide help and advice for visitors to Ireland. failteireland.ie
